Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Hunter Family Vision the leading provider of vision care products and services in Leawood and Prairie Village.

Dr. Brandon K. Hunter

Dr. Hunter, a Johnson County native, opened Hunter Family Vision in 2006 after 4 years of practice in Shawnee, Kansas. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology with Honors from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. In 2002, Dr. Hunter graduated from the University of Missouri – St. Louis School of Optometry on the Dean’s List with Honors.  Dr. Hunter is currently serving on the board of the Kansas Optometric Association.  As the team eye doctor of Sporting KC for the previous five seasons, Dr. Hunter’s expertise in sports vision has been utilized by one of the area’s most exciting sports teams.
Dr. Hunter enjoys caring for patients of all ages. He concentrates on fitting contact lenses and providing medical eye care. Dr. Hunter has consulted with a number of pharmaceutical and contact lens companies, working to improve the products that his patients utilize. He attends continuing education all over the country, applying the latest research and technology in his practice every day.

Dr. Hunter’s wife, Mandi, is an attorney with the Hunter Law Group P.A. in Mission. Mandi and Brandon have a growing family that includes Will and Kate. Dr. Hunter tries to find the time to run, having competed in the last few Kansas City half-marathons. He will usually take time off for a few BBQ cooking competitions in the summer time. Dr. Hunter enjoys watching his beloved Jayhawks during both the football and basketball seasons (mostly basketball).

Dr. Kevin R. Tomasu

Dr. Tomasu, originally from Wichita, KS, received his Bachelor of Science in Organismal Biology from the University of Kansas. He graduated from the Oklahoma College of Optometry with Distinction where he was recognized with Clinical Excellence and Clinical Research awards. Dr. Tomasu enjoys caring for patients of all ages and has a particular interest in ocular disease, dry eye syndrome, and contact lenses. He is an active member in optometry and is involved in several professional associations including the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric Association.

In his free time, Dr. Tomasu enjoys spending time with friends and family, exercising, and watching sports. He is a big Jayhawk fan and also has fun cheering on the Royals. He provides comprehensive, personal eye care for the entire family.

Dr. Kim Swan

Drs. Hunter and Tomasu are excited to announce the return of Dr. Kim Swan to Hunter Family Vision. After spending the last 4 years in Milwaukee, Dr. Swan and her family have decided to return to Kansas City. Before moving to Milwaukee Dr. Swan practiced at Hunter Family Vision while also having helped open our Prairie Village office and expand our pediatric specialty practice.

Dr. Swan graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee and then spent over 10 years in a pediatric ophthalmology group practice in Kansas City. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages but she finds working with kids especially meaningful. She plans on making a special emphasis in our budding Myopia Control Clinic, an endeavor to reduce the progression of nearsightedness in our younger patient population.

Jessica Harper

Jessica is Hunter Family Vision’s Practice Administrator.  Jessica has been with our practice for over 9 years and has a total of 17 years of experience in eye care.  Her past work as an optometric and pharmacy technician allow her to be knowledgeable about patient concerns and help facilitate patient care. After earning her BA at Avila University she became an ABO certified optician and NCLE accredited contact lens dispenser.  A busy wife and mother of three children, Jessica is well practiced at meeting your families’ needs. She will make your families experience unique with her attention to patient relationships and commitment to outstanding customer service.

Staci Blair

Staci has been a member of our team for over nine years and takes care of various administration and marketing projects for Hunter Family Vision.  Staci grew up in Lenexa and currently resides in Overland Park with her husband and their two sons. Out of the office, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants, traveling, reading, and cheering on our local Kansas City sports teams.

Abby Bohannon

Abby joined our Front Office team in March of 2016 and is now Hunter Family Vison’s Insurance and Billing Coordinator.  You could say working in the optical industry runs in her family, as Abby joins her Aunt Billy Bayles and brother Matt in the field!  A graduate from Shawnee Mission East in 2004, Abby currently resides in Prairie Village with her daughter, Alexandra.  As an added bonus, all of her immediate family resides within a 6 block radius of one another.  Alexandra is Abby’s world and she couldn’t imagine life without her! Abby also loves nature and anything that allows her to be outside including going to the lake, parks, hiking and playing frisbee.  Additional interests include nights out with friends, music, dancing, movies, and a good joke.   Abby looks forward to meeting you soon!

Julie Cahoy

Julie is our Front Office Coordinator and joined our team in the Spring of 2016.  Julie comes to our office with over three years of experience in the optical industry.  She moved here from Springfield, Mo and now resides in Shawnee. When not in the office, Julie looks forward most to spending time with her husband and two sons.  She also enjoys exploring Kansas City and surrounding areas, reading, spending time outdoors and traveling.

Julie looks forward to meeting all of our patients and continuing to explore our community!

Charisma Greenwood

Charisma has been with Hunter Family Vision since August of 2016.  She came to us with 6 plus years of optical experience. Charisma has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Fashion Merchandising, therefore she is excellent in helping our patients find the perfect frame in which to be comfortable and stylish.  With your prescription from Drs. Hunter or Tomasu, Charisma is quite knowledgeable to assist you in selecting the correct lens design to help you see clearly.

Charisma has two beautiful girls that keep her busy.  She loves to spend time with her family and friends and visit her mom who lives on an island in Mexico! Charisma looks forward to working with you and your family members to ensure you look your best in your new eye and sun wear!

Bridgett McFarland

Bridgett joined Hunter Family Vision in September of 2016 as our Edging Technician. She has worked in healthcare for almost 10 years and loves helping people! Outside of the office, Bridgett loves to spend time with her husband Nick and their son Oliver. She collects Disney movies and loves playing fantasy football. She is a hard working team player who loves to learn! Bridgett looks forward to helping make your glasses!

Aimee Corum

Aimee joined our team in the winter of 2016 as a technician. She is constantly learning new things and cross training. Her previous background as a CNA in a hospital has allowed her to experience many different situations and personalities, which makes her a great asset to our patient care team!

Aimee graduated from Tonganoxie High in 2013, after having already received her CNA certification and began working at KU medical center. She enjoys spending time with friends and family and traveling. When she’s not at work you can find her traveling, riding her horses, or on the lake at the Ozarks relaxing. Aimee looks forward to working with you soon!

Liz Esquilin

Liz joined the team at Hunter Family Vision starting a full-time internship in June 2018 as an optometric technician. She currently attends the University of Missouri – Kansas City, where she is working on an undergraduate degree in health sciences. She plans on attending optometry school once she graduates in December of 2018. Liz is a member of Chi Omega sorority at UMKC and enjoys hanging out with her sisters and raising money for their philanthropy, Make-A-Wish. During her free time she enjoys attending Royals and Sporting KC events, traveling, and going on adventures around KC.

Paige Arnold

Paige joins our team as Patient Care Coordinator with years of customer service experience! Paige is originally from the Ozarks where she graduated high school at Branson High. Paige enjoys spending time with her friends and family – whether it’s simply having a relaxed day on the lake, listening to live music, or out and about admiring the scenery of Kansas City!

Paige is a very generous, composed, and devoted employee whose goal each day is to make sure that our patients leave with a big smile!

Dayna Hull

Dayna joins our optical team with 6 years of experience.  She grew up in Salina, KS, but moved to Lawrence, KS in 2008 for the art and music scene. Dayna enjoys meeting patients and finding a frame that fits their personality. In her spare time, Dayna enjoys hanging out with family and friends, attending concerts, cooking, collecting vinyl and cheering on KU basketball.  Dayna looks forward to meeting you soon!

Sarah Workman

Sarah joined Hunter Family Vision July 2018 as an optometric technician. She has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Dietetics and a minor in Biomedical Science from Missouri State University. She has worked in health care for 4 years and loves being able to help others. Sarah has extensive experience and training in the use of the MiBo Thermoflo and enjoys being able to give relief to those suffering from dry eye. Outside of work Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Jennifer Gutierrez

Jennifer joined our team summer 2018 as a front office associate and technician. She is also a full time student at JCCC. Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, Jennifer graduated from a private high school in Centralia, Mo and has lived in the Overland Park for the last 15 years. She is devoted to her patients and prides herself on offering great customer care and a helping hand. After hours Jennifer enjoys traveling, watching movies, and good food. Soon to be married she looks forward to the next chapter of her life.

Bonnie Jones

Bonnie joined our team in December of 2017 after being a teacher for 10 years. She primarily works as a patient care advocate in our front office assisting our patients along with creating marketing campaigns for Hunter Family Vision. Bonnie grew up in Lenexa and graduated from Kansas University. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, loves animals, traveling, exploring and trying new places. Bonnie is an avid Kansas Jayhawk basketball fan and still loves to be around children. She will greet you with a smile and will be happy to help you with anything that you may need. Bonnie looks forward to continuing her education in eye care and getting to meet all of our patients.

Cheri Horan

Born and raised in Chicago, Cheri and her husband were transplanted to Kansas City in 1981. She has three children and two grandchildren. Cheri loves anything having to do with the outdoors; Bike riding, walking or exploring. Her hobbies include playing the flute since 4th grade, which she considers this her therapy. With over 14 years of optical experience, Cheri joined Hunter Family Vision in February 2018 and very much enjoys working with people and taking a personal interest in finding glasses for them that will make them look their best.
